WithLife is Strange: True Colorsclosing in, it’s safe to assume that the new Telltale Games will draw inspiration from what is changing with the game for its second, very anticipated season calledThe Wolf Among Us 2. Since Telltale Games declared bankruptcy back in 2018, and considering it lost most of its assets and part of the original team working on its games, it is likely that things will change for the series. As forLife is Strange: True Colors, this entry is undergoing big changes as well.
Deck Nine Games, the same studio that madeLife is Strange: Before the Storm, returns to developLife is Strange: True Colors. The biggest change to the franchise happening with the latest entry is dropping the episodic release format. Deck Nine Games will still divideLife is Strange: True Colorsinto episodic format, but allTrue Colorsepisodes will be available upon release. The Wolf Among Us 2is likely to do something similar once it releases, as the new Telltale studio confirmed all episodes are in the works simultaneously. That’s a significant change for both franchises that will surely impact both titles' storytelling methods.

The Future Of Episodic Games: The Wolf Among Us 2, Life Is Strange: True Colors
Life is Strangeas a series is probably one of the most iconic episodic adventure games, so when it drops a very recognizable trait of its legacy, this is bound to affect other similar games as well. Telltale Games went through hard times, and it isn’t a secret that the recovery is tough, especially with the new Telltale development team losing rights to several of its original IPs. The aforementioned changes to both Telltale andLife is Strange: True Colorscan shape the future ofThe Wolf Among Us, as well as other titles to come from Telltale Games in the future.
The Wolf Among Us 2may or may not be released as a full game, much like the newLife is Strange, especially considering how all episodes are being developed together. This fact alone may warrant Telltale Games to either release the full season at once, or have really short waiting times in between episodes once the game is released. Even the game’s narrative structure could change, based on the fact that the whole story will be pretty much finished when the first episode goes live.

Maybe even the story is going to see some changes, as the studio confirmed it is not picking up on the cliffhanger from Season 1 ofThe Wolf Among Us; when Nerissa leaves the players with the choice of either going after her or letting her go. To some, this is particularly sad because a popular theory stated that Nerissa is in reality Faith. Instead of revealing what actually happened, Telltale Games wants to let players decide for themselves to keep the debate alive about what might have happened.
Much likeLife is Strange: True Colorsis going to bring back some characters from the past, like Steph Gingrich fromBefore the Storm,The Wolf Among Us 2could end up including Nerissaand others once more. However, as far as Telltale Game’s comments go, the chance thatThe Wolf Among Us 2is going to receive a whole new story seems very plausible. Furthermore, ifTrue Colors' new format proves to be successful, future games from Telltale may end up following in its footsteps. The episodic genre as a whole may adapt to the newLife is Strange’s release method, or in general, the episodic feature for graphic adventure games may become a niche, rather than a staple.
The Wolf Among Us 2is currently in development.
