Popular Twitch streamer Michael Grzesiek, also known as Shroud, has been playing a lot of Amazon’s MMONew Worldin the wake of the game’s launch. While much of what he’s said about the game so far has been positive, Shroud does have some criticism for one aspect ofNew World: the game’s user interface.
New Worldreached half a million playersright after the servers went live on launch, which may indicate that the game as a whole is well-crafted and got a lot of people very excited to play it. Shroud appears to be one of these happy fans, but that doesn’t mean he loves every aspect of the game. In fact, after he described the game’s UI as “lacking,” he went on to declare that it was impossible to argue with that statement.

In a recent live stream, shroud stated that players could tell the New World UI has been made with thumbs in mind and that it was noticeably difficult to keep track of what people were saying in the chat.Shroudmade these comments about eight hours into a 15-hour-longNew Worldstream. The streamer said, “The game is neat. I’m not saying the game is bad. I’m just saying the UI is lacking, that’s all I’m saying. The user interface is lacking. You cannot argue there. You just can’t. The game is great. It’s interesting. It’s just got a bad UI.”
Shroud didn’t list everything that could be improved aboutNew World’s UI, apparently because it wasn’t his job to do so, but he did note a number of specific complaints. He claimed that trading was difficult, whispering to other players was difficult, and keeping track of what was going on in the chat was difficult. This isn’t the first time astreamer has been upset withNew World, but Shroud’s concerns may be harder for Amazon to address.
New Worldhas already released a statementconcerning plans to improve the game, so the UI problems may be addressed in the near future. In the meantime, shroud may have to put up with a questionable UI in order to keep enjoyingNew World. As of writing, it appears that the developers' main priority will probably be fixing the long queue times, so any UI fixes, upgrades, or redesigns will probably come after they sort those issues out.
