The final season of Tsuburaya Production’sULTRAMANisset to release next year, the company revealed on Monday. The season is set to stream globally as a Netflix exclusive series.

Atrailer for the upcoming final seasonis available on YouTube and can be streamed on Tsuburaya Production’s channel, Netflix, Netflix Asia, Netflix Japan, and Netflix Anime. The trailer sees a beaten Ultraman with his hands to his chest as the red light on it flickers faster and faster. A voiceover is heard urging him to stand up. The trailer then closes with a mysterious sentiment; “This is another answer for Ultraman”.

Anofficial poster has also been released, with the words “Farewell, Ultraman”. The shot in the poster mimics the trailer, as well.ULTRAMAN’stitular protagonist is a giant of light that is not from this Earth. Fifty years ago, he co-opted the body of Shin Hayata to save Earth and then swiftly disappeared. Shin does not remember any of the adventures ULTRAMAN embarked on using his body, however, Shin’s son Shinjirou appears to be born with superhuman abilities. After the SSSP, the organization aiding ULTRAMAN back in the day, informs Shin about his time with the extraterrestrial, he puts on the ULTRAMAN suit to resume his role as the savior of Earth.

During a fight with alien Bemular, Shin becomes incapacitated and Shinjirou must now work with the SSSP to save Earth as the legacy of ULTRAMAN. This proves to be more difficult than it seems.

TheULTRAMANmangawas written byEiichi Shimizu and illustrated by Tomohiro Shimoguchi. The manga was adapted into an anime and debuted on Netflix in April 2019, with season 1 having 13 episodes. One year later, the anime was broadcasted on Japanese television.

Studios Production I.G (Haikyuu!!, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex,Kuroko’s Basketball) and Sola Digital Arts (Blade Runner: Black Lotus,Startship Troopers: Traitor of Mars, The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim)produce the animeas a 3D CG project. The first two seasons were directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Eden of The East,Napping Princess,Akira) and Shinji Aramaki (Harlock: Space Pirate,Appleseed: Ex Machina,Starship Troopers: Invasion).

There is no official release date for the new season, only the year it is expected to premiere.
