On June 3, Anna Donlon spoke toGameSpotas a part of the Play For All event that the outlet put on. During this interview, the executive producer did confirm that Riot Games is currently testing the game on various consoles, saying that this is an idea that the company has been entertaining. While Riot Games is “prototyping” the game for different consoles, Donlon said that this doesn’t mean thatValorantwill necessarily be coming to console.
While Donlon did report that Riot Games is playing with the idea ofValorantfor consoles, the executive producer also said that the company has a few reservations about porting the game to other systems. She told GameSpot that the team working on this game isn’t sure ifValorant’sexperience translates well to other consoles and may lose the quality that the team wishes to keep. Donlon is also not sure if players would be on the samecompetitive levelif they’re not on the same platform, and she doesn’t want to compromise the competitive integrity of the game for anyone. While this isn’t a “yes” to bringing the game to console, it certainly isn’t a “no” either.
For now, Riot Games has their hands full with the Valorant launch. While it would be great to see the game available on more systems, the company needs to focus on the problems the PC version has, likeValorantplayers cheating. Once the PC version is on more stable footing, Riot Games can maybe focus on porting this game to other platforms.
