Valve made the announcement in a Twitter post sharing the news about theSteam Deckreleases this year and provided a little more information about it. According to the post, anyone with a current Steam Deck reservation can expect to receive them by the end of this year. The post also cleared up some confusion on the release windows in the comments section, adding that Q3 stands for July through September, while Q4 includes October through December. The general reception to the post has been generally positive so far, with many in the comments section expressing their surprise from this update. Some were still skeptical of the news, but there are plenty who were excited to be able to receive their Steam Decks this year.
The post also provided a link to the main Steam website where Valve continued to give moredetails about Steam Deckproduction and what players can expect. In the post, Valve states that it will be able to meet the demands sooner than expected for everyone in the reservation queue waiting for the Steam Deck. Now that many of the supply chain issues have gradually cleared up, this allows Valve to continue production of Steam Decks. Valve will now be able to continue producing more Steam Decks “faster than ever before.”
The post also expanded upon what the original Twitter post stated about the Q3 and Q4 release windows for theSteam Deck reservations. It stated that everyone who’s currently in the reservation queue for the Steam Deck will receive their order email this year. Also, many customers who were in the “Q4 or later” release window have been moved up to the Q3 release window while everyone else is now in the Q4 release window.
At the time of writing, new Steam Deck reservations will be organized into the Q4 release window. However, the post states that if the reservation queues fill up then it will “flip over into the following quarter.” Other than that, the rest of the post has Valve expressing its gratitude to all the loyal supporters. It thanks everyone for the positive feedback it’s received and hopes newSteam Deck ownerswill enjoy their gaming systems when they arrive.
