Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsis changing up the franchise formula in a major way. Fully embracing the fantasy setting seeninBorderlands 2’s Assault on Dragon Keep DLC, players will be experiencing anotherDungeons and Dragons-style narrative constructed by Tina. Plenty of interesting features will be seen in the spin-off, like spells, melee weapons, and an overworld map. However,Borderlandsfans can also expect to see plenty of guns once again.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandswill feature a long list of weapon manufacturers that players know and love. However, this time around, they will be sporting some different names to fit the game’s setting - most of them, anyway. All but one manufacturer is getting a new name, with Jakobs becoming Blackpowder and Dahl becoming Dahlia. However, Torgue will simply remain Torgue, and there is likely one reason for this lack of a change.

Why Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Keeps Torgue’s Name Intact

When it comes to Mr. Torgue and Tina, it is important to remember how he was initially treated inAssault on Dragon Keep’s story. Seen as an outsider due to his muscular appearance, Tiny Tina and Lilith refused to believe that Mr. Torgue was a fellow nerd. He was asked three questions to prove his geekiness, and while he gets the first two right, he fails to get the third correct. He begins to cry for being pushed out of the game, however, with Lilith and Tina feeling bad about the gatekeeping and misjudging him. As such, Mr. Torgue is officially welcomed into the campaign as a quest giver.

WithTiny Tinalikely learning her lesson, it would make little sense for her to turn Mr. Torgue away a second time. In fact, Mr. Torgue is seemingly confirmed to be a part of the new campaign, as he is seen in the gameplay trailer playing a lute. While this could be a moment made specifically for the trailer, that is unlikely, as a proper character model has been made for Mr. Torgue. With the character being confined toBorderlands 3’s Circles of Slaughter, too, giving him a larger role in this spin-off game should satisfy fans. Mr. Torgue will likely serve as a quest giver once again, having a minor role in the main story or through side quests.

Mr. Torgue having a rolein the campaign could be where the lack of a name change stems from. If players once again think back to Assault on Dragon Keep, they will remember that Mr. Torgue isn’t one for following rules. After all, his first appearance in the DLC sees him destroying the airships of Flamerock Refuge, a move that almost sees him banned from the game. As such, it makes sense that he would go against the idea of renaming his explosive-focused arsenal.

WhileTiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ new manufacturer namesare a ton of fun, Mr Torgue might not want to play along. With the game sure to have plenty of fourth wall-breaking jokes, this could easily be one of them, with Mr. Torgue telling Tina that his name is perfect as is. With Tina knowing how Mr. Torgue will react if he does not get his way, she could just roll with it, letting his company’s title remain unchanged despite all the others getting an adjustment.

While this is purely speculation, andBorderlandsfanswill have to wait untilTiny Tina’s Wonderlandsreleases to know exactly why there was no name change, the most likely option is that it will be played off as a joke. Mr. Torgue has always been proud of his guns and their explosive payloads, so it fits with his character to want his name left alone. Still, even if there is no explanation given, altering the branding for all but one of the weapon companies is the kind of humor thatBorderlandsplayers have come to know and love over the years.
