A recently-addedWorld of Warcraftquest just teased a new race possibly joining the Horde in the future. While there would be all sorts of potential problems with adding this playable race inWorld of Warcraft, a new block of quest text has given players renewed hope.The horse-like Centaur have been inWorld of Warcraftsince the days ofWarcraft 3. They primarily appeared as enemies and mercenaries in earlyWoW, but they made a resurgence inDragonflightwith the Maruuk Centauras one of the four major Renown factions players could gain reputation with.RELATED:World of Warcraft: Hilarious New NPC Shows What Demon Hunters Have Been Doing Since LegionNow, some new quest text recently added toDragonflighthas teased the possibility of the Centaur joining the Horde. Once players have completed theOld Hatreds questline featuring Baine Bloodhoof inWorld of WarcraftPatch 10.0.7, the Windtotem Tauren camp slowly begins to change as time passes, after which a Tauren named Ironhoof can be found in the camp. When spoken to, he mentions the Tauren are warming to the Centaur slowly, despite the generational conflict with their cousins from the Barrens, and he makes a comment speculating they might one day join the Horde before flashing a knowing smile.
This could beWorld of Warcraft’sway of hinting the next Horde Allied Racemight be the Centaur. Ironhoof first appeared in the 2013 graphic novelBloodsworn, where he and a group of warriors fought alongside a Centaur named Dorthar who later went on to join the Horde. It seems no coincidenceWoWchose to have Ironhoof be the character to make such a comment.
Of course, this is far from confirmation the Centaur will be added as a new playable race toWorld of Warcraft. Though the Centaur received a significant model diversity inDragonflight, their equine builds would make them exceptionally hard to use as a playable character. Making all equipment, emotes, and mounts used by player characters work forCentaur would be a big challenge forWoW.
Even so, Horde players andWorld of Warcraftfans would love to see the Centaur join the Horde in the future. The Maruuk Centaur of the Dragon Isles have been quite popular, and players would love to be able to play them, especially given their unique builds. Many would also hopeWoWcould have them meet their Barrens counterparts and build up the original Centaur cultures beyond their one-dimensional, problematic depictions from the past. Players will have to wait and see ifWorld of Warcraftever adds more Allied Racesto the game.
