Summary
World of Warcraftis making some big changes to the Void Elf and Nightbourne starting areas in Patch 10.2.7. While it remains to be seen what these new details entail, this update is the first time theseWorld of Warcraftlocations have gotten attention in almost seven years.
Patch 10.2.7, called Dark Heart, is the next content update forWoW. It is thelast patch beforeWorld of Warcraft: The War Within, and will act as the narrative bridge between it andDragonflight. Dark Heart just recently had its first build on the Public Test Realm, meaning players are getting a first glimpse at what to expect in the update.

However, while exploring the PTR version of Azeroth, some fans discovered some interesting new details. The Telogrus Rift – the zone where Void Elf characters begin their journey – has received a facelift, with new tents, decorations, and even a currently-unusable portal next to a Dalaran Kirin Tor banner. According toscreenshots captured by Wowhead, the area has new lighting and particle effects, and generally looks much more lived-in than it did before – it even features several new NPCs who appear to have recently made the transition from Blood or High Elf to Void Elf. This almost certainly suggests Telogrus Rift will play a role in the upcoming patch.
Telogrus Rift in WoW: Dragonflight Patch 10.2.7
Considering Alleria Windrunner, thefirst Void Elf inWorld of Warcraft, is set to play a big role inThe War Within, it isn’t hard to imagine whyWoWhas updated the area. Several NPCs in the Telogrus Rift are still encrypted, with their names and models hidden, which could be Alleria or other major Void Elf characters like Magister Umbric. Locus-Walker, Alleria’s mentor, is present – and as heard in a video captured byWoWfan Saphras, he appears to have a new voice actor and on-click lines.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the only Allied Race starting area that has been changed in Patch 10.2.7. Saphras also discovered that Suramar, thecapital city of the Nightbourne inWorld of Warcraft, has also had the hostile NPCs removed from at least one of its districts. It remains to be seen if this is related to Patch 10.2.7, but either way, players are excited to see the area get attention after so long.
Beyond the story,Patch 10.2.7 is also introducingWoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria. This limited-time PvE event lets players experience the Mists of Pandaria expansion with modern convenience and class balance, featuring faster leveling and new cosmetics to collect. The patch doesn’t have a release date yet, but givenWorld of Warcraft’s release cadence and roadmap, fans can expect it to arrive before the end of May.
