Holy Paladin Basics In Wrath Classic
While other classes still outshine in terms of raw AOE healing, Holy Paladins are still the toast of the town forClassic Wrath of the Lich King. Holy Paladins top ourWotLK PvE Healing Tier Listdue to insane output and efficiency. Do they excel at anything and everything? No, but that doesn’t matter thanks to their single target healing arsenal and the all-new Beacon of Light.
This guide will focus specifically on level 80 content and abilities. It will be updated throughout theWrath of the Lich Kingexpansion as more content rolls out.
Important New and Reworked Talents and Abilities
Beacon of Light- One of the best capstone and spec-defining talents in all ofClassic Wrath of the Lich King. Beacon of Light is what Holy Paladins have been waiting for since the start ofClassic WoW. I could write up thousands of words singing this talent’s virtue, but I’ll leave it at this: it’s really,reallygood.
Divine Plea- While we won’t be seeing the original, completely broken version of Divine Plea, it’s still a pretty efficient way to regenerate mana.
Avenging Wrath- A pretty impressive cooldown to help buff your healing spells during critical moments in an encounter.
Aura Mastery- Another solid cooldown to increase the effectiveness on your auras. It’s particularly useful in fights that emphasize resistance.
Sacred Shield- It gives your targets a mini-Power Word: Shield
Holy Shock- Now has a six-second cooldown.
Talent Build for Holy Paladins in WotLK
This is the default talent build for Holy Paladins as they begin endgame contentWrath of the Lich King Classic, complete with the ideal glyphs as well.
There may be some slight deviations if you’re running multiple Holy Paladins. Otherwise, this is the bread and butter talent build.
The last minor glyph slot is generally going to be for whatever blessing you’re assigned to give out.

Holy Paladins have a nice balance of cooldowns that enhance their own abilities while offering solid utility to the party.
Divine Plea

Ideally, whenever a fight has an intermission or a low damage output, you’ll use it as the healing reduction won’t penalize you. Not every fight gives you an obvious window, however. Patchwerk, for example, is constant damage throughout the entire encounter. One thing you can do to help deal with these types of fights is to ensure that your prioritize healing target will still be maintaining the proper amount of heals when you pop Divine Plea. This can be done in a variety of ways, such as other healers using their cooldowns, you yourself popping your personal cooldowns, or even the tank popping damage mitigation cooldowns.
There will definitely be a bit of trial and error until you find the happy balance. At the end of the day, what’s most important is that the boss goes down and you pick up that sweet, sweet loot.
