WWE 2K Battlegrounds, a new arcade-style wrestling game that replaces the simulated realism of the mainline games with over-the-top, cartoony action, receiveda new traileryesterday which, while brief, confirmed some new information about the game, such as its release date and roster of playable wrestlers.

Initially, we only had a small handful of characters confirmed forWWE 2K Battlegrounds, such as The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin, but between this new trailer, some screenshots and info provided by publisher 2K itself, that number has grown exponentially to about 25 characters in total, with a mixture of modern Superstars and classic Legends from WWE’s past.

This isn’t even close to being the complete roster either, as 2K has confirmed that the game will feature 70 characters at launch, with more to follow as DLC.

This doesn’t include thewholly original wrestlers created for the game’s story mode, which executive producer Sean O’Connor went into detail about yesterday. But so far, it’s a very solid line-up that will likely make any WWE fan, young or old, happy.

So far, the roster includes:

It’s important to remember thatEdge is a pre-order bonus, with no word on whether he can be unlocked in the game regardless or if he will be added as DLC at a later date. The roster also has some odd omissions, with other famous faces like Triple H, Kane, and Brock Lesnar absent. Again, though, it’s possible that they can be unlocked in-game or will be DLC.

While agent Paul Heyman will also be making an appearance as part of the game’s story mode, it hasn’t been stated whether he will be playable as well. Though not a wrestler, he was technically playable inWWE 2K19, though players had to jump through hoops involving the character creator to do so.

Meanwhile, anotherWWEtitle is due to release at the end of this month, namelya tabletop card game meant to recreate a Royal Rumble match.
